Previously serving as the Vice President of Broadband Technology at the NCTA – The Internet & Television Association, Matt played a pivotal role in shaping technical public policy, particularly in the areas of internet policy, cybersecurity, and overall broadband development. Collaborating closely with prominent industry working groups such as IETF, NANOG, M3AAWG, BITAG, SVA, CSCC, and NSTAC, Matt helped bridge the gap between technology and policy to support the cable industry’s growth.

Throughout his career, Matt has been at the forefront of innovation, spearheading the development of groundbreaking proof-of-concepts. His endeavors included real-time video piracy detection using machine learning, network outage detection leveraging open data, and network performance analysis through open data sources. These initiatives showcased his commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive tangible results.

Before his tenure at the NCTA, Matt held the position of Vice President of Global Services at Sandvine. In this role, he provided strategic direction and oversaw the delivery of consulting, system integration, and customer support services. Under his leadership, Matt’s teams developed pioneering network services in areas such as traffic management, network analytics, usage-based billing, network security, and subscriber notification for leading global tier-1 communications service providers.

A testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, Matt co-founded CableMatrix and served as its Chief Technology Officer. The venture capital-backed startup revolutionized broadband service providers’ operations with its groundbreaking Policy Servers, particularly in the cable market. CableMatrix’s success led to its acquisition by Sandvine in 2007.
